Privacy Policy

  • General Provisions

By using the website of the Law Firm (hereinafter “the Website”), the user (hereinafter “the User”) accepts the collection and use of his/her personal data (hereinafter the “Personal Data” or “Data”)  as indicated in this Privacy Policy. In the event of amendements or updates, this updated Privacy Policy shall be uploaded onto the Website, indicating the date of the latest update. The User shall regularly check the Website to remain informed of any change or update made to the Law Firm’s Privacy Policy.

The processing of Personal Data collected from the Website are made in strict compliance with the Act N° 78-17 of 6 January 1978, amended in 2004.

The data controller is the Law Firm, on its own behalf and on behalf of its foreign offices.

  • Privacy

The Law Firm undertakes to respect the privacy of the Users and the confidentiality of their Personal Data when browsing the Website.

  • Collection of Personal Data

Data may be collected when the User:

  • Browses the Website
  • Registers or connects on the Gide Alumni page of the Website
  • Sends a query via the contact form
  • Applies for a position or an internship
  • Registers for a newsletter
  • Use of Personal Data

The Data collected through the Website is processed for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy or in any other section of the Website, in particular to :

  • Provide services or information requested by Users,
  • Answer the questions and requests of Users,
  • Ensure the processing of applications for a position or an internship,
  • Ensure the proper functioning and security of the Website, improve its functioning and adapt it to the Users’ requests,
  • Carry out anonymous stastistical analysis.

The aforementioned Data is kept for the period necessary to its processing.

  • Data recipients

The Personal Data collected through the Website is neither leased nor transferred to any third party, whether free of charge or not. The foreign offices of the Law Firm are not regarded as third parties.

Personal Data collected by the Law Firm through the Website can be transferred to its foreign offices, exclusively for the purposes specified above. Such transfers comply with the applicable legislative and regulatory provisions.

What are cookies ?

Cookies are small text files that a website sends to the user’s web browser. They are then stored on the user’s computer. Cookies enable a website to collect information about the user such as his/her browsing behaviour on the website or his/her preferred language, in order to improve his/her browsing experience and the functionnalities of the website.

There are different types of cookies :

  • Session cookies which disappear as soon as the user leaves the website ;
  • Permanent cookies which remain on the user’s computer until they expire or until the user deletes the cookies using the browser settings.

In order to adapt the Website to Users’ demands, the Law Firm measures the number of visits, the number of pages visited, the activity of the Users on the Website and how frequently Users return.

For this purpose, the Law Firm uses Google Analytics, a stastistical tool developed by Google, that generates a cookie with a unique identifier, with a 6 months lifespan. How can the User accept, refuse or delete cookies with his/her browser ?

At anytime, the User may disable the cookies installed through the Website.

In order to disable the aforementioned cookies, the process is as follows :

In Internet Explorer :

To set your browser to block the placing of cookies :

  1. Open Internet Explorer, click “Tools”, and then choose “Internet Properties”.
  2. Click the “Privacy” tab, and then move the slider on the option of your choice and click on OK.
  3. Internet Explorer gives a description of the types of cookies that are blocked or not at each level of confidentiality.
  4. If you decide to block cookies, some pages of websites may not function properly.

To delete cookies :

  1. Open Internet Explorer, click “Internet properties”. On the General tab, click “Delete” under Browsing History in the Internet Properties dialog box.
  2. In the “Delete Browsing History” dialog box, click to clear all of the check boxes except for the cookies check box, and then click “Delete”.

In Firefox:

To set your browser to block the placing of cookies :

  1. Open Firefox, click “Tools”, and then choose “Options”.
  2. In the Privacy panel, in history options, set “Firefox will” to “Use custom settings for history”.
  3. Check mark “Accept cookies” from sites to enable Cookies, and uncheck it to disable them.
  4. Check how long cookies are allowed to be stored :
  • Keep until: they expire: Each cookie will be removed when it reaches its expiration date, which is set by the site that sent the cookie.
  • Keep until: I close Firefox: The cookies that are stored on your computer will be removed when Firefox is closed.
  • Keep until: ask me every time: Displays an alert every time a website tries to send a cookie, and asks you whether or not you want to store it.

To delete cookies :

  1. Open Firefox, click “Tools”, and then on “Options”.
  2. In the Privacy panel, click “Clear recent history”, select “Cookies” and click “Clear now”.

In Safari :

To set your browser to block the placing of cookies :

  1. Open Safari. Choose “Safari” and then “Preferences”.
  2. In the Preferences tab, click “Privacy”.
  3. In the “Block cookies” section, specify if and when Safari should accept cookies from websites.

To delete cookies :

  1. Open Safari. Click “Safari” and choose “Reset Safari”.
  2. In the new window, select “Remove all cookies”. Click “Reset” to confirm.

In Google Chrome :

To set your browser to block the placing of cookies :

  1. Click the “Chrome” menu on the browser toolbar.
  2. Select “Settings”.
  3. Click “Show advanced settings.
  4. In the “Privacy” section, click the “Content settings” button.
  5. In the “Cookies” section, you can change the following cookies settings:
  • Block cookies by default.
  • Keep cookies and site data by default until you quit your browser.
  • Make exceptions for cookies from specific websites or domains.

To delete cookies

  1. Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Click Show advanced settings.
  4. In the “Privacy” section, click the Content settings button.
  5. In the “Cookies” section, you can delete cookies :
  6. Click “All cookies and site data” to open the” Cookies and site data” dialog box.
  • To delete all cookies, click “Remove all” at the bottom of the dialog box.
  • To delete a specific cookie, hover over the site that issued the cookie with your mouse, then click the X that appears on the right corner.

  • Personal data of Law Firm members

Personal Data relating to the members of the Law Firm which is accessible on the Website cannot be collected and/or processed without the prior and express consent of the individual concerned. In particular, Users shall not collect nor process the Data, whether automatically or manually, to send unsolicited commercial messages or any other kind of messages.

  • User rights

Any User who proves his/her identity has the right to request, as appropriate, the access to, or the updating of Personal Data that concern him/her.

Each User may also oppose, on legitimate grounds, that his/her Personal Data be processed by the data controller.
